I too am doing a retreat on this subject with all the connections I can’t find where the groom says this cup is the new covenant in my blood. I’ve heard many teachings on the covenant and I know there is a cutting of the covenant. This would make sense to me but I would love to confirm this please give me something to go on thanks

In reply to Rev. Sophia N. Snyder. Thanks for taking the time to comment, Sophia! As I see it, Sophia, the exchange of God's pure, unadulterated love is what makes a meal “holy." This can give special meaning to symbolic meals, as well as spontaneous ones. One could even say that love is communion, and communion is love. :-)

Job 14:7-9 “At least there is hope for a tree: If it is cut down, it will sprout again, and its new shoots will not fail. Its roots may grow old in the ground and its stump die in the soil, yet at the scent of water it will bud and put forth shoots like a plant.” Hope can spring forth even in the midst of despair.
