When I was a little girl I had a hobby horse, and remember spending countless hours riding and grooming it. Later in life when riding a real horse for the first time, a strong déjà vu feeling of my pretend horse came flooding back. It's hard to describe, but sitting on the back of the reality, I felt like I had been there before, and it brought an exhilarating, childlike joy to my ride. All this came to mind on a certain trip, in which I could not escape an adventurous sense that its moments were once played out in the history of the Bible somewhere. What exactly I did not know, but it felt as if something from the past was merging with the present, forming a new and higher reality. Hopefully I haven't lost anyone. It's actually an experience that, for me, helped unlock something in this next portion of the Song...

The last post about “being brought into His chamber” was heavy, I know, and long. I don’t make any apologies for it, as everything isn’t for everybody, and it helped bring things together for me, in my Spirit. I’m not always able to make things easy for other people to understand. Call it a writing style, or whatnot, but sometimes after the fact I hear someone else put it into less, more succinct words, and I’m like, “Ahhh, perfect! So much simpler!” :-) Like the following, which I give credit to another author for writing. Forgiving some of the religious language whose overuse has become problematic in my opinion, I think you’ll get the overall gist.

What is YOUR experience with the Song of Songs? I believe anyone starting off on a journey of faith knows, deep down, that the “Song” is uniquely special and useful for their spiritual life. But unfortunately most don’t have the tools to properly understand it. When I was a young girl, I remember reading the Song in secret, and how it ignited desires in me for what was spiritually possible in my love-relationship with Christ. A Loop of Intimacy (Song 1:2)

In verse 2, the opening words of the Song, the Bride is expressing intimate desires for her Beloved. “Kiss me”, she says. And in the last verse of the Song, she is expressing a longing for Him to hurry to her. “Make haste, run to me”, she says again. In-between there are passionate trysts of intimacy. There are also a few dark spells of searching, losing touch with the Beloved, and being hurt by others who do not love Him. It is painfully obvious that at times, her vision gets clouded. But she is His, and He is hers.
