The 7 Gifts of Birthright and Blessing

I’ve been doing a little study on the subject of “birthrights,” and can’t speak much into at this time, but sufficient to say that the Bible (especially the OT) is chocked full of stories of people who were born for something great, and for that purpose were given a gift with specific abilities and traits attached. They could either move toward that greatness (i.e. birthright) by using their gift, or move away from it. This is done if they neglected it, sold it, was deceived from it, was distracted from it, abused it, or ultimately lost it – if that is the choice their faith took in the end. It is very sobering to take a closer look at all the stories of great people, from Adam, to Moses, to Saul, to even Peter, and see how they missed out on God’s best for them in the choices they made.

What IS encouraging is that every individual has a greatness in them, and God gifts them for this greatness. He is a great God, why not put the potential in His children to have that same expression of Him? I’m certain that there’s something you, and only you, can do to impact the area you are passionate about changing and influencing. It may not be in the way you think or want, but it will lead to your joy, and the manifestation of the full-color splendor of God in the earth.

When or if you want to go down another road of exploration, I’ve been reading some of this in a website of a new friend of mine, who has introduced me to a whole new way of understanding people. I used to be gung-ho on the “Color Code” way of understanding personalities, which had 4 types, but Nancy (her and her husband have a counseling ministry together) focuses on the pattern of 7 in Scripture, such as the 7 spirits/wisdom principles of God, the 7 churches in Revelation, the 7 days of the week, the 7 sayings of Jesus on the cross, etc… and connects them to the 7 gifts of the Spirit in Romans 12. Not to mention the 7 major colors in the spectrum of light/rainbow. :-)  It makes so much more sense than the personality tests out there, and yet, it’s NOT personality, but more like: “Godality.” These gifts are gifts of GRACE, and they represent the unique DNA of God in each of us, as created in His image – given to represent God, not ourselves! Without a submission to God, the DNA is still there in shadowy form in each individual, muddled up and corrupted by mixed motives. With a submission to God, however, our gifting has power in the Spirit to do mighty things. Knowing what our gift is, is extraordinarily helpful, and will give us great clarity in life, and for the many choices we make moment to moment to either move toward His/Our greatness, or away from it. This includes benefiting our relationships, and recognizing the unique “lie of legitimacy” that attacks each type of gift, robbing us of our birthright.

Because my go-to pages on this subject are scattered between two websites, I’ve compiled the pages that I usually consult and recommend most on the subject. But I recommend for anyone interested in pursuing this even more, to pay attention to the other hyperlinks on the pages. Nancy’s website has many such links.
